(Gaia Lawing). I really like the colors. I definitely feel like it could maybe benefit from having more images because right now it feels like just a filter over a picture.
I agree with Gaia. I think your concept is coming across because the image is very evident of it. If I changed one thing, I think I would add something else to communicate your idea in a more metaphorical way.
I've got no photos to show, as I've been using this class period trying to come up with any sort of idea that is both sequential and not dumb. I've decided that I will do a series of photos, lined up on a grid to display the passage of time. I had a lot of ideas, but this is the one I've settled on. My idea will focus on a set of keys and what happens to them to make them lost. I'll have the actual work posted tomorrow.
I chose the photo of Thich Quang Duc burning alive as my iconic photograph because three ideas on altering the image significantly jumped out right away. One of these images will be the car by itself, with the flames bursting from the hood. Another will be of Thich Quang Duc sitting by a body of water, the dark area of fire next to his face patterned on a cliff wall behind him to make a water reflection-like pattern. Another will be using the monk on the left of the image as a base for something, I don't know yet. And the final image I will make will take the same monk from the left and have him taking the gasoline can to his car, with a new setting outside of a gas station to give the illusion that his car simply broke down and he had to walk to purchase more gasoline.
So far, my main themes surround the cycle of creating art. Personally, I get motivated in more of a "do it or don't" sort of way; I generally wait until I have an idea to start creating; unless of course, I've had some booze. This is a bit of a self-destructive cycle, and that is sort of the idea I want to capilate on. The one word I want to focus on is "self-destructive". This has been partially inspired by the idea of the tortured artist, as most artists are known for their legacy and the works they create when their life is full of strife, divorce, drinking, drugs, or infamy.
