Project 4 ideas

I've got no photos to show, as I've been using this class period trying to come up with any sort of idea that is both sequential and not dumb. I've decided that I will do a series of photos, lined up on a grid to display the passage of time.  I had a lot of ideas, but this is the one I've settled on. My idea will focus on a set of keys and what happens to them to make them lost. I'll have the actual work posted tomorrow.

Project 3 Final Version

Final Image. I like it the most, and it leaves an interesting background along with a coherent image.

Project 3 Iterations

Image
This was my third iteration, where I layered multiple footprint trails in different types of light techniques, mainly hard light and pin light. I think it turned out pretty good. For the volcano image, there were two different types of lighting that I liked. This was my favorite iteration. Using a used palette, I played around with it until it made this vibrant blue speckled background. This is my final image choice.

Project Three Final Photograph, constructed Image

This is my final image, pre-iteration work. Since my word is self-destructive, and following our in-process critique as a class, I decided to leave the image alone so that it could speak for itself rather than insert a drunkenly-passed out artist into it.

Even with my failed image, this is the metaphor activity I completed.

Project Three update

Image
I was working on my image. My one word is 'self destructive', and while working on that, I decided to combine my alcohol and my paints. While working on the image, I didn't save it properly, and tried to move it aside so to start on the artist half of the image. Moving it off-canvas promptly deleted my work so far, and so I am left with half the art table.  The exchange images and an updated image will be posted by Wednesday.

So far, my main themes surround the cycle of creating art. Personally, I get motivated in more of a "do it or don't" sort of way; I generally wait until I have an idea to start creating; unless of course, I've had some booze. This is a bit of a self-destructive cycle, and that is sort of the idea I want to capilate on.  The one word I want to focus on is "self-destructive". This has been partially inspired by the idea of the tortured artist, as most artists are known for their legacy and the works they create when their life is full of strife, divorce, drinking, drugs, or infamy.

Destroy The Icon Rework, Update Two

Image
Here is the second update to my piece. The monk from the far right of the original photograph has now been placed so that he takes up the space of the pinkie finger.

Destroy the Icon Rework, Update One

Image
In revamping/reworking my image, I tried to fit the original project goals better by sticking to the theme of my iconic photograph. Thich Quang Duc's immolation was due to the Vietnamese government's persecution of Buddhists, and he completed his actions as an act of defiance to bring awareness to the persecution. In keeping with that theme, I will be combining the monks shown in the photograph into one peace sign. Thich Quang Duc will serve as the palm, the uplifter, to the rest of them in the final piece.
